FAQ

What is GOLD FILLED?

Gold filled consists of a thick layer of gold which is mechanically bonded to a base metal, usually solid brass and sometimes sterling silver. Gold filled items must contain, by law, 5% or 1/20 of gold by weight. It is the next best thing to solid gold and has the same high quality appearance without the hefty price tag! Because the layer of solid gold is so thick our gold filled jewellery, with proper care, can last a lifetime!

What is STERLING SILVER?

Sterling  silver is an alloy created when copper is combined with pure silver in order to make the resulting compound incredibly durable and less soft. Usually, sterling silver has a purity of 92.5%, meaning that 7.5% of the alloy is made of copper or another metal (most commonly nickel or zinc). It is great for everyday wear and will last you for decades!

What is CUBIC ZIRCONIA?

Cubic Zirconia or CZ is an inexpensive diamond alternative with many of the same qualities as a real diamond. Crystalline material (CZ) is synthetic, which means it is created in a laboratory. CZ is rated 8.5 hardness on the MOH's scale, where real diamond is rated 10. I love CZ, they're so beautiful, and I think they are the perfect choice to replicate that expensive diamond look without having to sell an arm and a leg for it.

How do I take care of my jewellery?

Our jewellery can last a very long time! But it is heavily dependant on;

1. What ends up on your jewellery
2. How often you clean it
3. How it is stored

What to do and what not to do;
1. Never wear your jewellery in pools and hot tubs, the amount of chemicals and chlorine can end up tarnishing them quickly!

2. It’s best to remove your jewellery when doing intense workouts or on very humid days as the amount of salt and chemicals in your sweat can be rough on your jewellery!

3.Try to remember to put on your jewellery after you’ve applied products like sunscreen, lotions, perfumes etc. as it can be harsh on your jewellery, especially sunscreen!

4. It’s okay to shower with your jewellery on if you use mild soaps and shampoos, but always dry your jewellery thoroughly when you’re out of the shower!

How to clean your jewellery;
Daily maintenance of your jewellery, to keep it looking its best would simply be wiping it down with a soft cloth after each use. If you know it’s been exposed to a bit more than normal that day (lotions, hair products, sweat, etc.) I would suggest rinsing it off with some warm water and drying thoroughly with a soft cloth.

Make sure you try and take your jewellery off before you sleep and store it in an airtight container or bag such as a ziplock or jewellery box. This is to maximise the lifespan of your jewellery. I don’t always remember to do all of these! As long as it’s more often than not your jewellery will last you for years and years to come.
